We Remember the Bravery of First Responders on 9/11
September 11, 2001 – a tragic day where more than 3,000 people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters, 71 police officers, and 125 people at the Pentagon, most of whom worked for the US Army or Navy. The hijacked planes that crashed into the Twin Towers, Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania are the deadliest foreign attacks we’ve had on American soil since the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
The day is one of extreme mourning for our nation. At the same time, the 9/11 anniversary is a stark reminder of all we have to be grateful for in this country. There is no war on our soil. Our infrastructure is sound. We can vote. We can speak and exchange ideas freely.
We have so many brave people to thank for those freedoms we enjoy: service members, firefighters, police officers, and rescue workers – folks who risk their lives every day to keep us safe. To keep us alive. To keep us free.
So today we want the men and women who serve and protect this country and their communities to know we are grateful. We don’t take your sacrifice lightly.
